"Zerofret" (zerofret)

I was at a stoplight today after a nice lunch with one of my old friends. As I sat there, a brand spankin' new Camaro ZL1 with the dealer plates still on pulled up next to me. I'm not the biggest fan of them but I can respect them for having as much power as they do. I'm more of a GT500 fan. Anyways, I turn my head, and who's driving it? A chubby ginger teen (looked 16 or 17) wearing purple Ray Bans. One hand on the wheel, another holding a burger. I rolled my eyes and looked forward, until he began revving his engine and maniacally laughing while looking at me. Needless to say, the light turned green and he floored it. Dear parents, I'm all for letting your young driver have something with a little bit of power (if you can trust them), but a ZL1? That's just an accident waiting to happen.

I always give a bunch of throttle when I'm the first car at a light, but that's mainly to pull a gap between me and the car behind me. Then after that I keep within 10% of the speed limit, but of course you get that one dick in a Jeep or a Suburban tail gating you through town.

I disagree. There are plenty of kids whose parents get them great cars and do not crash, get into accidents, or show off like idiots.
Bad apples are always around, but it's not universal.

There are plenty, but oh boy are they the minority.

Come to Hong Kong, where young people and their parents are willing to splash out on fancy autos. I've seen CLA 45s, C63 AMGs, Maser GranTurismos, Ferrari 458s, the lot.

Well like It comes down to the responsibility/maturity of the kid. I mean, I knew a guy in high school who thought he was better than everyone else because he drove a stock v6 mustang. He floored it and crashed into a pole.

I didn't even know these were offered with automatics.

I have no clue. like I said, I'm not a huge fan of the ZL1 so I don't know much about it. Maybe he was going for a stop light snack?

Just checked Google, apparently they are indeed offered with an automatic. This is strange because neither the GT500 nor the SRT8 Challenger have an automatic option.

You'd love my friend who gets to drive his Dad's brand new 2014 Super Snake. Alone. 850HP. It's ok though, he did "only" 120-130 constantly on the highway.

This is also true for the rich suburban and international kids at any big college/university. I was shocked at what I found on my visit.

Oh you're right. Is it relatively new or have they always had an automatic option?

That's insane. I also knew a guy in high school who's dad bought him two vehicles: SCT raptor for the week, and a boss 302 for the weekend -_-

Hope they thin out their gene pool. Some asshole parents gave a kid a Ferrari TR (about 20 years ago) and he ended up killing my neighbor's wife and his 9 year old son who I was friends with going "over 100mph". He had multiple prior tickets but was a blue blood from douchepage county near Chicago. I'm sure the local republican party reps who were friends with their dad at the country club were handling them all that for him prior to that murder. They are known for corruption like Chicago is with democrats. Any place where you have a deeply rooted party is a zero responsibility zone for the rich.
My uncle, not blood uncle but close family friend, was also murdered by rich parents though their rich kid in fast car.

Ya, maybe when it's a nice car bought with the kid's hard earned money. All the rich kids with cool cars at my school had their cars solely impress others and would routinely drive like maniacs.
A teen with a hot car is just that. From my experience i firmly believe that 9/10 it will be. Not one kid at my high school who had a decent car wasn't acting a fool with it. Even the kids with honda civics did. If they had a fast car because they wanted a fast car they drove it like a teen drives a fast car. The rich kids whose parents gave them v6 auto mustangs to commute in? They didn't care about cars so they drove it normal.
I even had a rotting SUV even and did donuts in the parking lot.
If your kids are telling you that they are driving their Mustang GT you bought them safely then they are lying and you are gullible.

That's ridiculous. Stuff like this annoys me so much. Especially since the kid's who have them tend to be so snotty to. Not that they all are, but most I've met are. The kid's who had the new V6 pony cars were the worst though, thought they had the fastest cars in the world. Then one cut of his mufflers and it's not a good sound at all. More like a ricer exhaust.

they're universal enough to be statistically significant. if they weren't, insurance would be a lot less expensive.
